   Here’s a common case: wanting to do your own hacking on a package P that   
   comes with your distro:   
      
       apt-get source P   
         # drops a copy of the source for P in the current directory   
       sudo apt-get build-dep P   
         # ensures that all necessary dependencies are installed for building P   
         # from source   
      
   And that’s it—you’re good to go.
