   Nobody seems to be able to actually make something comparable for much   
   less money. When the iPad first shipped there was nothing in the market   
   against which Apple's pricing could be judged (though one should note   
   that it was cheaper than most analysts expected), but as other products   
   have shown up, it has become clear that Apple's iPad pricing is actually   
   pretty aggressive.   
      
   Mind you, I'm sure we're about to see a vast wave of $300 tablets. But I   
   think it'll mostly be pretty obvious why they're so much cheaper. (Screen   
   quality is likely to be one dead giveaway, the screen being the most   
   expensive component in an iPad according to iSuppli's teardown.)
