   You may have heard that RAM costs are skyrocketing, pushing the cost   
   of well-equipped new PC systems to the point of unaffordability. And   
   it seems this problem will not be resolved any time soon.   
      
   In this situation, it becomes more important than ever for users to   
   prolong their life of their existing PCs. If only Microsoft would   
   offer a “Windows Lite” option, reducing resource usage with minimal   
   sacrifice of important functionality ... but of course it won’t, for   
   revenue-gouging reasons.   
      
   Linux, on the other hand, does offer such options. Here   
    is a review   
   of a couple of them.
