Just worth pointing out the difference: the Linux folks seem to be
getting something useful out of AI technology, as opposed to pushing
it on customers (unsuccessfully) for its own sake, as Microsoft is
   trying to do.

First it has to win with its actual customers -- the ones it is trying
to get to pay for all this expensive AI stuff, remember? All we are,
here in c.o.l.a, is just the peanut gallery. We’re only here to laugh
at Microsoft’s failures, we’re not the cause of them.

That cause lies elsewhere, within Microsoft itself.
