Thanks to the Orange One, the times are now changing in the other direction.

Within a few short months, that idea (of letting a US vendor control access
to your data) has become a hard no in an increasing number of people outside
   of the US.

A country that was once implicitly trusted, has now become something to
   be avoided when possible.

This is an example of the kind of discussions that are now taking place
   in Europe:

You can find the same discussions going on across the whole of Europe and
Donald Trump is rapidly in danger of doing to the US what Gerald Ratner
   did to his company.

A major concern in people wanting to do business with the US is his
unpredictable bullying approach to dealing with people, organisations,
and countries, with the unpredictable bit been the most important.

For example, would he suddenly consider the forced sale of ASML to
US interests by cutting off access to US resources until they comply ?

He's just announced that unless Japan very quickly yields to his demands,
he's going to impose a 30% to 35% penalty on them. That to me sounds like
another version of Danegeld and Kipling was right about what the end result
   of that is.
