   I used the Itanium simulator that run on x86-32, and it was /extremely/   
   slow, because of the painful nature of managing a simulated 64-bit   
   address space on a 32-bit machine. I suggested to my Intel FAE ("Field   
   Application Engineer" not "Fuel-Air Explosive"), who helped ISVs with   
   porting and was ex-DEC, that running the simulator on Alpha would be more   
   satisfactory. "Yes. But we wouldn't do that, would we?"
