   Java had threading built right into the core of the language from the   
   beginning. Trouble is, threading is not necessarily the most efficient   
   way to do everything.   
      
   If you want to use poll(2)-type calls, the Java wrapper makes that   
   unbelievably convoluted to do. Compare the Java API   
      
   with the Python one .   
   Note that the Python API is complete on that page, while the Java page   
   is just the beginning of your API journey ...
