We are talking hundreds engineers - and not just       > any engineers but top engineers.              When the Raspberry Pi was first released, there was a Debian version       available for it, but it was not optimized for the Pi’s unusual       combination of hardware floating point + an older version of the ARM       instruction set.              Two guys decided to take it upon themselves to rebuild the whole of       Debian, from source, optimized for the Pi hardware. It took them six       weeks.              They called their distro “Raspbian”.
