Cloud computing has its place, in some situations at least, provided
it is only a _part_ of a larger ecosystem and _if_ there are disaster
recovery procedures in place for if it becomes unavailable.

It is not a method by which organisations can offload their responsibility
to run secure and highly available computing services.

BTW, in terms of new types of attacks, I am just waiting to see how long
it takes for the current US administration to realise they can force
compliance in some other countries by issuing a threat to disable the
US-based computing infrastructure those other countries use unless they
   comply with US demands.

For example, do any of the current South American countries which are
currently a US target have a US-based cloud infrastructure ?

Given the way other countries have capitulated recently after initially
standing up to the US, I suspect there are now people within the US
administration emboldened enough to think they could actually get away
   with that. :-(
