I think this is discarding all nuance from a complex issue.

Much of what the Atlantic article described, for instance, is
due to the lingering fallout from the pandemic: an utterly
unprecedented event in our lifetimes. Most kids entering
college now had their education (and much of their social
development) severely curtailed, due to circumstances affecting
that entire globe that were completely out of those kids'
control; or that of their parents, for that matter. To ignore
all of that and basically declare, "Americans are igorant" is,
   itself, ignorant.

Oh please. You regurgitated right-wing talking points at the
time, and now you bemoan that the orange stain won?

And you still did that, knowing full-well the alternative?

This is exactly the sort of shallow, smugly facile "argument"
that got the US into the mess we're in now.

The same is true in this country. The Democratic party is
failing, utterly and miserably, as an opposition party. But do
you know what does not help? Having folks across the pond lob
these little jabs at those of us who understand all too well the
dire nature of the situation. It's neither funny, when you're
in a situation where people are being yanked off the street and
disappeared into concentration camps while a non-trivial
minority of the population gleefully cheers it on, nor helpful.

I did. And I responded. But I split my response to the
technical part of your post into another response, so as not to
   conflate the two topics.
