   If he has such (Alpha/IA64) object modules compiled for whatever reason   
   with /NOPREFIX then he may work around this with a wrapper that provides   
   the non-prefixed names and maps them to the appropriate names from   
   DECC$SHR. This usually works for RTL routines - assuming that the   
   routines are feature compatible. It's not that easy for non-literal RTL   
   data. But there is not much of such data in the VAXCRTL* images. Most of   
   the data symbol vector entries are literals. Such data can be defined in   
   the wrapper. All in all it should be possible. But the right approach is   
   to compile without /PREFIX that is to get the code compiling and working   
   in newer VMS environments.
