I'm just beginning my analysis, and       reconstructing my memories.              The question is: why offering a translated RTL when it can be       recompiled? (There are not only _TV (for alpha) and _TV_AV for C RTL,       they existe also for other lnagages RTL).              Today, I think, one of the goals is about mathematical approximations,       which are not exactly the same with a compiled RTL, and for some       applications, and notably to calculate pictures, it could be a problem.              As the name says it, DECmigrate (VEST and after that AEST) is about       facilitation of migration. Very helpfull when the program sources are       lost, but also for a long time if you need specific calculs.              It's just for now an hypothesis. I see these translated RTL mentioned in       the .opt for all the links. And also it is the G_FLoat which are used.              Perhaps in our C.O.V some people know more about the rationale for these       translated RTL which had to survive until today.              Gérard Calliet              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
