   Store hop ip table at each machine.   
   Store hop count table at each machine.   
      
   Run:   
      
   Sniff packets at all machines.   
      
   If ip.source address is in hop ip table then   
   begin   
       if not (ip.time to live = hop count table) then   
       begin   
           Alert ! : Hop count changed !;   
       end;   
   end;
