|    Limited broadcast on specific interface    |

XPost: comp.os.ms-windows.networking.tcp-ip       From: the_unlord@hotmail.com              Hi,              How can I send a limited broadcast to a specific interface?       It seems behaviour on a multihomed PC changed from Windows XP to Vista:       XP sends out the broadcast to all interfaces in the sendto call, but       Vista only sends it to 1 (and it's a mystery to me which one it selects       and why).       Now, we really need this to work, but I haven't got the faintest clue       how to do it.       I tried first binding to an IP of 1 interface and then broadcast, but XP       still sends it out on all interfaces (haven't checked what VIsta does).              It seems on linux, you can use SO_BINDTODEVICE, but this doesn't seem to       exist. It has to be possible, because, how could a DHCP server ever work       on a multihomed Vista (or doesn't it?).              For the record: using the subnet broadcast address of each interface is       NOT a solution, we need limited broadcast (we need to be able to reach       devices that have wrong network settings in order to reconfigure them)!              Any advice or pointers would be VERY much appreciated!              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
