   Given a decent 2Mb connection to the Internet, you can expect <10ms to   
   your ISP, after that it is dependent on where you go. That's why I asked   
   about other sites.   
      
   On my adsl line, I get 9 ms avg to my ISPs website and about 200ms to   
   cross the atlantic.   
      
   For him (see his reply) the high ping times are a constant, so we can   
   conclude this is at least sub optimal service, unless it involves a   
   satellite link, in which case I guess it is actually rather good.   
      
   The figures given seem more consistent with a 256Kb link, although I   
   think the RTT is still a bit high for that.
