|    DHCP relay    |

From: mark_cruzNOTFORSPAM@hotmail.com              Hello              I need to set up DHCP relay on a L2 switch we're developing; network scheme       is as follows:              PC-----[vlan1 L2 switch vlan2]-----DHCP-server--              The switch with two interfaces:              vlan1 192.168.2.10 LAN              vlan2 192.168.1.1              DHCP server (192.168.1.150) is located on vlan2 segment.              So I picked one up from busybox package, compiled and it seems to work, but       there is a point I'm intrerested in. Windows PC runs DHCP client, sends       broadcast query (with source port 68, dest. port 67) the dhcp relay       intercepts the query, sets gateway address in packet as vlan1 IP address,       and sends unicast request to DHCP serve via vlan2 interface, but here both       source and destination ports are set to 67. Isn't it supposed to be source       port 68 -> destination port 67? This is the question that bothers me.              Thanks.              --       Mark              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
