   I'm not sure this is the best place to ask -- although HTTP /is/   
   sometimes discussed here, and I don't know what that better place   
   would be.   
      
   Just a question: why does it have to be HTTP? Can't you design your   
   own protocol?  It sounds to me that you're not going to be able to use   
   a standard HTTP client, proxy or server in either case.
