Windows (XP, at least, not sure about others) is perfectly happy with
multiple IP's on a single NIC. I don't know what the max number is,
but I've successfully run 4 IPs, which was all I needed at the time.
By default, when configuring multiple IP's on a NIC, one of them
cannot be acquired via DHCP, but others have posted a Registry hack
   that will change that behavior.
