From: rick.jones2@hp.com              What exactly do you mean by an I/O in progress?              Generally speaking. If you want TCP to stop sending, you stop giving       it data. You cannot prevent it from trying to transmit data you have       given it. If you want TCP to stop receiving, you stop pulling data       out of the connection. That does not "immediately" stop the sending       side, but it will stop once it either has no more data to send, or the       TCP receive window fills, whichever comes first.              Even if there were an "xoff" ability at a TCP receiver, there will       still be the delay as that flowed across the network to the sender.       It could not be "immediate."              --       a wide gulf separates "what if" from "if only"       these opinions are mine, all mine; HP might not want them anyway... :)       feel free to post, OR email to rick.jones2 in hp.com but NOT BOTH...              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
