   I believe the "de jure" minimum IPv4 MTU is 68 bytes, allowing for 20   
   bytes of IPv4 header, 40 bytes of IPv4 options and 8 bytes of   
   "payload."   
      
   The "minimum, maximum reassemblable" IP datagram size is 576 bytes.
