   Probably more for commercial reasons than technical -- the content   
   providers like to keep control and know how many times programs are   
   watched.   
      
   But most streaming services now offer download options. You can download   
   with Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Apple TV+. And there's a third-party   
   application "PlayOn Cloud" that allows downloading from many other   
   services (it's like a DVR for streaming).
