   DOS: track 17 sector 0 holds the VTOC.  Everything else is potentially   
   variable.   
      
   ProDOS: block 2 holds the start of the volume directory.  Everything else is   
   potentially variable.   
      
   Most disks follow the standard pattern: track 17 is a full catalog track,   
   ProDOS has 4 volume directory blocks followed by the bitmap.  Detecting "most   
   disks" isn't the interesting part of the problem though. :-)
