   If you want to install rpm without a shell then have a look   
   for RPMtool by Marc-Anton Kehr.   
      
   You will still need to have a Mint filesystem though.   
      
   When I first upgraded my basic Mint install to use a Mint filesystem   
   I was put off by the rpm system but now I just try to ignore the   
   scary installation wizard aspect of letting something install stuff   
   for me.
