Steprate is solved very 'elegant' in TOS 2.06 - it is set to fixed
6mS- So, good for HD, good for DD floppies. Not good for ears. For 5
1/4 drives 12 mS steprate is required - not problem, just need to set
some system variable, or use some prg. for that. I remember about it -
we connected some PC drive in time when PC Ditto arrived, some 20
years ago ? Of course, TOS sets not steprate automatically. I don't
know about Falcon and TT, but Mega STE with TOS 2.06 certainly sets
   nothing automatically.

Actually, all TOS support 2.88 MB drives - TOS is very flexible
considering diverse disk formats. Some people reported succesful usage
of ED floppies. (and needed to set steprate to 12mS, likely) .

Btw. I just read on Atari forum that only dip switch 7 is used from
whole block. Others are unused in Mega STE.

   Hmmm...6mS standard Step Rate???
   Not on my Ataris...
All are 3ms, even the Falcons.
   I have never used 12ms.
But have used 6mS for 5 1/4 drives.
