   find the VDI fonts, right?   
      
   Have you tried the following?   
      
   1. Delete the files /etc/X11/fonts.alias and /var/lib/Xapp/fonts.db.   
   2. Make sure that X.app has write access the the folders mentioned   
   above.

   I doubt that downgrading to NVDI4 will help, but it might be worth a   
   try. Unfortunately I don't know where to find it.
