Remember a few years ago when Apple was in the news for not paying its fair
share of taxes. It is true they paid a very small percentage of their income.
BUT, they also paid close to 5% of ALL corporate income tax in the country.
That is insane. This means other corporations were paying, on average, far
less than they were (by percent).

Our tax system is deeply broken.

Whenever this comes up people whine that if corporations paid taxes they would
just pass it onto the consumer. Evidence does not back this. When a
corporation dedicates immense resources to legal and accounting teams to
exploit global tax loopholes, that is an inefficient use of capital. A simpler
   code would save them money.

Add to that, their prices are not based mostly on their expenses but on what
the market will bear. And, of course, why are prices not going DOWN when
Amazon and Apple and Walmart and others get their taxes lowered?
