The WannaCry trojan couldn't run on a        Br> Commodore 64, so there isn't actually a need to patch the C64 Kernal        Br> to protect against it... to say nothing of the impossibility of a        Br> trojan actually modifying the Kernal itself to put all of your data at        Br> risk.....              Thank You.              I've heard of the Apple ][ Floppy Drive DOS (Disk Operating System) Code       is placed in computer memory by reading a file that is on the Floppy       Disk when the System is Turned On.              No Boot Disk, No DOS. iirc.              The C= 1541 FDD has DOS in a ROM that's read when the drive is turned on.              A friend had the first Commodore Computer that I saw, a C= PET.       It came with a Tape Cassette Drive as other systems did in the early       days of computeing.              I waited until the price of the 1541 got lower before I felt I could       purchase it.       In March 1984I bought the 1541, 64 and VicModem300 the same day,       although I had to go to another store to get the 1541 since the local       store didn't have any 1541's in stock.              I read enough about storing programs on Tape and been to friends homes       where the computer they owned used Tape and had seen how long it took       to Load or Save a Program, that I didn't want to begin learning about       a home computer with Tape Storage.                     ...
