Wow... that is some awesome stuff to see my source code has been resurrected!        It appears that most of the code there is from the time of the origination of       DMBBS Sept. 1987 - May 1989. I am the original "Depeche Mode" from Baltimore,       Maryland at the        time. Eric reached out to me many years ago and filled me in on everything       that happened with DMBBS after I sold the business when I graduated from       college.       I still think my version is the best ;) What is really great here is that you       resurrected the source code from the original games, especially Sigma, which I       put a lot of effort into but people didn't have the patience to play it out to       when it gets        interesting. It is a multi-player universe empire building game complete with       random universe, discovery of planets, and building your own space fleets. It       can take a while before you discover other empires and only if others are       working on it as much        as you are!       Sigma was given away free with DMBBS as an example of the games. I wonder if       the "module construction kit" source is around. It was given away free with       each DMBBS so should be readily available for people who want to develop their       own games.       The intent was that people would develop and share games which would promote       DMBBS even more. I did have some people develop games under contract through       me which was the model used for Empire Deluxe which was one of the most       popular games since it was        easy for a single player to enjoy.       I could go on, but if you have any questions let me know!       Lee              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
