In any       case it is not relevant (only) to borg, but to any backup system incl.       rsync, so I do not know why this question is asked in the context of borg.              If you want to backup your application data, then dump or persist the data       first. This is what I've seen/used and AFAIK is the standard in various       backup solutions.
