   Windows CE, under its original name (Modular Windows) and Microsofts'   
   associated business practices for that software is the primary reason why   
   Tandy is no longer in the computer business.  Tandy sank $75 million   
   into that venture that Microsoft then deliberately sabotaged*.  Later,   
   Microsoft even denied Modular Windows was ever a product, despite published   
   manuals and pressed SDK CD-ROMs being available for sale from Microsoft.   
      
   *Although, you could argue that the entire venture was doomed from the start.   
    Still, without the multiple knives in the back from Microsoft, the failure   
    of the Tandy product using Modular Windows may not have been so devastating.   
      
   Two years later, now with significantly higher minimum ROM, RAM and CPU   
   requirements, largely the same software reappeared as Windows CE.   
      
   I think the Pocket PCs could do without an OS that originally required a   
   minimum of 1 Meg of ROM and 1 Meg of RAM.  Modern minumum ROM, RAM, CPU,   
   and platform peripheral requirements for Windows CE are much greater.
