|    LDOS 631 file protection    |

From: doug.mccomber@fakepart.gmail.com              Is it LDOS or LS-DOS? Anyway, I'm using v631J and what I want to do is       protect some specific files from fat finger purge mistakes. I've read       the DOS help and printed manual for ATTRIB and PURGE but am not getting       the results I want.              I want to protect a single file with a read-only attrib, then when I run       purge on the disk (hard drive partition) and accidentally say yes to the       protected file, it will not purge.              I've run:               attrib vc/cmd:4 (OWNER="SECRET",PROT=RE)              on the file I want to protect. I have the disk MPW set as:               attrib :4 (PW="BOSSMAN",MPW="PASSWORD")              as I learned from RTFMing that purge won't ask for a password with MPW       set to a default of PASSWORD.              So, when I run purge on :4 and enter the MPW, it goes ahead and purges       vm/cmd when I say yes. What happened to the PROT=RE?              Regards,       Doug              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
