From: doug.mccomber@fakepart.gmail.com              Hi,              I've read in several places that one should turn their system on first,       then insert the floppy to prevent damage (to the floppy disk). So I       thought I'd start doing this and gave it a try on my M4.              The computer comes on and displays "Diskette?". I put an LDOS floppy in       drive 0, the screen goes blank, then a few seconds later it displays       "disk error". I hit the reset button, again, "disk error".              So I turn the computing off, pause, and back on. LDOS boots. This disk       is "good", and this behaviour is the same with other boot disks. What       gives? Is it okay to turn your M4 on with a floppy in the drive?              Regards,              --       Doug McComber       http://www.VintageComputing.net              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
