   Yep. I still have a lineprinter with one of those 'silencers' (not TRS-80   
   though). They hardly work, because all the noise just comes out of the   
   recesses where the paper is fed through :). And even worse, the pitch of the   
   noise becomes higher, making it even more irritable.   
      
   These printers and non-working 'silencers' are probably the sole reason why   
   networks and printer servers were ever invented. :+)
