   I thought the RS cone of silence worked pretty well. Then again, it was   
   only   
   really designed for the 'ratatatatat' of the daisy wheel printers. I don't   
   recall   
   every seeing a setup with OTHER than a Daisy Wheel printer in it.   
      
   Personally, I had an LP-VI that was customized. (I had put a custom   
   EPROM in it so that it 'matched' my Model II character set. I ended up   
   burning a number of those for friends.) It wasn't really that noisy. If I   
   had to print something long, I went away and got a snack if I didn't want   
   to be around it.
