I use SLED when I'm noodling around for the TRS-80's and I want the to edit
files using the PC (tried WORD or WordPad ..zouch!!)
   try http://short.stop.home.att.net/freesoft/txtedit1.htm
and find sled.zip on that page
It is a screen oriented text possessor that lets you customize your output
to add or suppress the LF or the CR on each line. It runs in dos but because
it is so old the DOS box in XP works good

   YMMV
