   I preferred BreakFree CLP. Started using it on 8" drives and then when   
   R.S. and Apple started shipping 5-1/4" mechs I just kept using it.   
   Never did any 3-1/2" drives though. My first one was only about $150,   
   and totally reliable. Later there wasn't much point futzing about with   
   something so small and cheap.   
      
   Only drive I ever had to do twice was one that had been liberally lubed   
   with some sort of moly grease. Holy, sticky black mess, Batman!   
   Cleaned it up pretty good the first time, but not even six months later   
   it was all gummy again with stuff that had worked out of the carrage.   
   After the second CLP, no more problems.
