   I've got some little notebooks around for simple control/status   
   terminals. Running linux, sometimes have user interface, mostly to   
   collect (and sometimes display) data and feed it into the home network.   
   E.g., one monitoring the Trace SW inverter in the garage acting as an   
   intelligent serial<>tcp/ip converter. I've several different models,   
   but I prefer the OB800 and would like to standardize, if it didn't cost   
   much. :) Plus, I'm likely to need spare parts to keep the rest going.   
      
   As for why I prefer the OB800, it was the pinnacle of that form from HP.   
   Mechanically solid, more compatible hardware than previous models,   
   simple power input requirements, and acceptable performance for my app.   
      
   Of course, I've been watching the price of low-end VGA LCD monitors, and   
   starting to think that for well under $200 I could have a real computer   
   at each location... Streaming video both directions...
