   As I've mentioned before...The display gets worse, never better.   
      
   As far as the batteries, remove them if you're not using the machine   
   for any length of time. I had stored mine for a couple of years.   
   Took the better part of a weekend to clean the battery "junk" off   
   the  board. Also had to solder over where one of the traces had   
   been eaten through. Could have been worse.
