|    Cassette archive?    |

From: bruce#fanboy.net@127.0.0.1              Is there any cassette archive out there or interest in one?              I've recently been playing around with writing code to extract the data       from .WAV files of my old Model I tapes. I looked at wav2cas and it was       way too much of a hack for my taste. (having everything inside main()       was a bad start) Right now there's still a lot of manual work in my       process, and it depends a lot on what quality of recording I get, which       is mostly due to getting our old friend the volume control right.              So far I've rescued one side each of two tapes from my box of oldest       tapes, including tweaking a few weak waves with Audacity to get good       reads, and I even decoded a few tail ends where the beginning got       recorded over.              My main goal is to read my old stuff, but I also got a good read of the       KBFIX/RELO and Invasion Force tapes. I figured it would be a good idea       to ask before reading the pre-recorded tapes I have handy, to avoid       duplication of effort. I really only want to stick to 500 baud tapes       right now, but if there's any interest in 250 baud Level I tapes, I can       try reading a few of those as I find them.              Interestingly enough, Invasion Force has garbage in unitialized areas at       the end, some of which appears to be bits of Eliza and other source code.              LOT DW 0       1382 CLEAR ASC ' '       1383 DB 0       1384 ASC ' '       1385 DB 0       1386 SWT1 EQU '0'       1387 SWT2 EQU '!'       1388 XFLAG DB 0       1389 ZFLAG DB 0       1390 WH1 DB 0       1391 WH2 DB 0       1392 DDEMO DB 0       1393 BTYPE DB 0       1394 NSHTS DW 0       1395 NHITS DW 0       1396 XPLO1 DB 020H,'*',191,'*',020H,0       1397 DB '*'??????              1471 DS 32       1472 STACK DB 0               38       1280 ASC /ARE SUCH QUESTIONS ON YOUR MIND OFTEN?/       1281 DB 40       1282 ASC /WHAT IS IT THAT YOU RE              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
