Well, not to resurrect an old thread, but....

The reason the DMK emulator doesn't work in Vista is because DMK wants
to use DOS full screen mode, which does not work in Vista. This issue
*may* be video card and/or driver dependent, because I have read reports
from some folks in the Windows Vista newsgroups who claim they can get a
DOS full screen in Vista. I can not, and DMK absolutely will not run
   in Vista on my machine.

However, there is a solution. VPC 2007 is a free download from MS, and
will remain so after the Beta period. Using VPC, I created a real DOS
6.2.2 virtual machine. Then I used the "folder sharing" feature to
copy my DMK folder into the DOS virtual machine. DMK runs fine in VPC.

The big advantage is that you can run the virtual machine in a Vista
window, and DMK thinks it's still running full screen, so you get a
TRS-80 in a window! I have now made 3 copies of this virtual machine,
and set up the DOS autoexec.bat files to automatically load up a Model
1, 3 and 4. It's nice to have all 3 running in windows in the
   background.

Of course, you have no access to real TRS-80 floppy disks, but I just
boot real DOS (or Win 98 or Win ME floppy disks) to do that. You need
to have your DMK stuff on a Fat32 drive in order to use it with DOS, but
I kept mine on a Fat32 drive for just this reason.

BTW, VPC is quite nice. I have BeOS, OS/2, Windows 2000, Server 2003,
the Linux Distro Of The Month and my TRS-80s all in virtual machines
   running under Vista.
