   I suspected as much.   
      
   I remember my father simply wired a D-9 connector to the appropriate   
   points on the keyboard matrix in his Model I unit.   
      
   Ironically, I always found the arrow keys easier to use. That's still   
   true today when running MAME - with the exception of the 8-way games   
   such as Xevious, which I suspect is because of the "cluster" layout on   
   PC keyboards. Try playing "Penetrator" using cluster arrows keys - it's   
   all but impossible!   
      
   [Note to self: patch Penetrator to use a different key for fire, then   
   hook up my X-Arcade stick to one of the TRS-80 emulators - that would   
   really rock!]
