On my Model III, drive 1 is only detected on one out of ten boots or so.
The drive light always comes on during the boot process so I know it's
getting some kind of signal. Could this be caused by dirty contacts?
The reason I ask is the keyboard was failing to register quite a few keys
but by pressing them and wiggling them with much force multiple times,
most keys are now solid and reliable again. I figure I wore off the film
of insulating grime on them. Could the same substance be on the drive
   cable contacts?
