   Actually, I never added protection to P&T CP/M, nor to TriSoft CP/M-68K.   
      
   What you are seeing as "protection" is just a quirk of the way the 8"   
   floppy format "standard" works. The first track is always supposed to be   
   in one of two standard densities and format, but the second track has no   
   such standard. The problem was that we needed more bytes in the boot   
   tracks than were available, so we swap densities/formats midstream on the   
   P&T boot tracks.   
      
   Works fine, but it will confuse systems looking at the first track to   
   determine density and then trying to read the rest of the disk.   
      
   If I had it to do over, I would use a different scheme - would take a   
   couple of extra seconds to boot, but more standard.
