I used Bank of America a long time ago. They were very strict about checking
accounts. When they recieved my checks to be processed and honored, they would
look at the date on the check and compare that with my account *on that date*.


Never mind that, when they recieved the check to honor it, my account had more
than sufficient funds to cover it....but what the account had in it on the
*date* at the top of the check. And if the funds weren't there to cover it on
*that* date.....they'd bounce it back to the person it was written to!


I'd sit down and write my monthly checks the night before payday, put that
day's date on the checks, and drop them in the mail the next day *after* I had
deposited my paycheck. They'd bounce the whole lot of them!


When I went in and talked to a manager about it and found out what they were
doing, I went right over to a teller, deposited the exact amount that would
give me an even amount in twenty dollar increments in the account, went out
the door to their ATM, withdrew all my money and have never done business with
them again.


For months afterward they sent me a statement of charge for *closing* the
account!


They have many subtle little ways of *mining* money out of people. Someone in
your circumstance should not be using Bank of America. Find yourself a
different bank.
