 Message 64
 BOB KLAHN to ALL
 Moral delima and Islamic takeover.

I posted a msg about a short story called, The Ones Who Walk
Away From Omelas. This story was described by the only one who
seems to have read it as SF and he completely mis-stated the
premise. His shallow analysis served no useful purpose.

No one else seemed to have read it, or looked it up, though I
 did post a link. Snipurl.com/omelas.

I challenged all readers to tell what they would do in that
case. At the time I did not give my choice.

Now we are seeing protests in Egypt, Tunis, Sudan, etc. Some are
near to rising to the level of rebellions. When I googled the
protests, to find out what commentators are saying, I found very
little. I don't follow many commentators, so I don't have links
 to go to their websites.

Mostly I was interested in what Fox News commentators had to
say. The only thing I found was Dick Morris saying we had to
oppose an Islamist takeover of Egypt.

Ok, before I sent this off I checked again. I found an article
in the far right American Spectator criticising American
conservatives for impugning the Egyptian revolution, and esp
mentioning Fox News. I found Krauthammer giving a muddled
commentary in which he expressed the opinion that there is a
grave danger of the Muslim Brotherhood taking over and the US
should prevent that. And John Bolton saying much the same.
National Review online had a good comment on it.

Oh, and that Sudan is a vital ally in the war against Al Qaeda.

This is a perfect example of the Omelas challenge. So, look at
it, and give your position on it.

 Now I will give mine.

 I would bring down Omelas.
