      Title: Carob Cookies

  1 1/2 c  Brown sugar
      1 c  Butter
  2 1/4 c  Whole wheat pastry flour
      3 tb Carob powder
    1/2 c  Nut meats
      1    Egg
    1/2 ts Salt
      1 ts Baking powder
    1/2 c  Milk
    1/2 ts Vanilla
 
  Cream and blend together sugar and butter. Beat in egg and vanilla.
  Sift flour, carob powder, salt, and baking powder, and add
  alternately with milk. Add nut meats. Shape into long rolls and wrap
  in waxed paper. Leave in refrigerator overnight. Cut off thin slices
  and bake about 15 to 20 minutes at 350?F.
