1 1/2 c Lentils
1 sm Smoked ham hock
2 Carrots
2 Celery ribs
1/4 Onion
1 Plum tomato; up to 2
2 Bay leaves
2 ds Thyme; up to 3
1 tb Chicken stock base; level
Make sure that lentils are clean. Wash with hot water in strainer
until clean. Put in pot. Add small, smoked ham hock.
In blender, chop carrots, celery, onion, and tomatoes. Put in pot.
Add bay leaves & thyme. Add chicken stock base to pot. Add water to
cover everything. Bring to boil and lower heat to simmer. Add water
if too thick. Cook for 2 to 3 hours.
Cook pasta, drain, and mix with lentils.
