In my experience many Democrats don't hate guns. I live in northern
Western Washington and our Gun range is about I'd say 2/3rds
Democrats.
The majority of killing done in a year are by people who don't legally
own the weapon. Also if you would try for a property written law on
Background checks without the Registration agenda you might get it.
What I like to say is not all Democrats are liberals. Our Federal
Representatives (Ds) would think twice about passing Obama Style gun
laws.
I'm Center Right in my politics Guess I'm what the Tea party people
call a RINO. I've carried a weapon most my life and never killed
anyone as a private citizen.
Guns aren't the whole problem as we see in many cities it is lack of
respect for life and total lack of personal responsibility.
Gun Control alone won't fix this problem. Criminals don't follow the
law or we'd have no murders, home invasions or drug problems in the
USA.
