   We're rapidly coming to the season where some 4WD vehicle owners will   
   find 4 sliding tires work about as well as two. I've got traction and   
   stability control in my vehicle and I play with it on snow and ice to   
   see what it will do. It does function rather well except if you push it   
   too far it will stop you completely until you learn to drive like an   
   adult. That's when I'm playing. In normal driving it doesn't come into   
   play because I'm not exceeding the limits of traction.   
      
   There is an effect where an added feeling of safety encourages less safe   
   behavior.
