|    200 Muslim Employees Walked Off the Job     |

XPost: alt.atheism, sac.politics, alt.religion.islam       XPost: alt.politics       From: yb@nyetsissies.ru              In early December, 200 Muslim employees walked off the job at a       meat-processing plant in Colorado to protest a prayer dispute.       Tuesday, 190 of them were fired for refusing to return to work.              Now, the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) has       stepped in to try to help them get their jobs back.              As reported by The Blaze, Cargill Meat Solutions made the       decision to fire the employees – mostly Muslim immigrants from       Somalia – after they refused to return to work at the Fort       Morgan plant, claiming they were denied prayer breaks.              According to KSTP-TV, the company said in a statement:              “Cargill makes every reasonable attempt to provide religious       accommodation to all employees based on our ability to do so       without disruption to our beef processing business at Fort       Morgan. While reasonable efforts are made, accommodation is not       guaranteed every day and is dependent on a number of factors       that can, and do, change from day to day.”       In a separate statement, Cargill told KUSA-TV:              “In the Fort Morgan plant, a reflection area for use by all       employees to pray was established in April 2009, and is       available during work shifts based on our ability to adequately       staff a given work area. This has been clearly communicated to       all employees.”       Jaylani Hussein, a spokesman and executive director of CAIR,       told The Denver Post:              “The workers were told: ‘If you want to pray, go home.’ They       feel missing their prayer is worse than losing their job. It’s       like losing a blessing from God.”       Hussein said Cargill told him the employees were fired over “no       call, no show, walk out.”              The company told KUSA-TV that it had previously made multiple       efforts to settle the dispute, including meeting with plant       management and union representatives.              Comments:              Final Opinion       Can all their a$$es. I don't want them handling my food anyway.       Like · Reply · 1 · 48 mins              Craig Eggerton       Religion has nothing to do with God and everything to do with       self serving groups of people who discriminate.       Like · Reply · 1 · 37 mins              Lee Eng · Hong Kong       As a Christian if I pray at my state job I get fired! Maybe Christians should demand extra breaks for prayers.       Like · Reply · 4 mins              https://www.ijreview.com/2016/01/505295-200-muslim-employees-       walked-off-the-job-at-a-meat-processing-plant-then-the-real-       battle-began/              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
